SUSTAINABLE IT

At BPCE-IT, Responsible Digital is not limited to reducing our carbon footprint, but also encompasses social and ethical considerations.

Every day, our teams strive to reduce carbon emissions across our projects, infrastructures, and professional practices.

Our policy is structured around three pillars :

  • Green For IT

Reducing the ecological footprint of our activities by optimizing energy consumption and improving equipment recycling.

  • IT For Green

Leveraging IT technologies and skills to support our corporate social responsibility initiatives and make a positive impact on the environment.

  • Green By Design

Integrating sustainability principles right from the design stage of our products and services, adhering to the 3U rule: useful, usable, and effectively used (utiles, utilisables et effectivement utilisées).

Our key initiatives

  • EcoTree, for carbon offsetting

To offset emissions from our business travel, BPCE-IT signed a partnership with EcoTree in 2024. To date, BPCE-IT holds 415 carbon credits, with each representing one ton of CO2. Through this partnership, we offset our carbon footprint by planting trees in European forests. We commit to offsetting BPCE-IT’s most polluting business travel (flights, internal combustion engine cars) every year, while prioritizing the least polluting modes of transport, such as trains.

  • 100% green electricity in our datacenters

Our datacenters now operate on 100% green electricity produced in France, thanks to our partnership with ENGIE! ENGIE ensures that all the electricity we use comes from renewable sources in France. All of this green energy is injected into the national grid, meaning our consumption is completely powered by renewable resources.

  • E10, to reduce our consumption

As part of our Responsible Enterprise Program, we set ourselves an ambitious challenge: to reduce our energy consumption by 10% by the end of 2024. Thanks to everyone’s corporate efforts, we have achieved this objective! BPCE-IT implemented various measures to monitor and support this initiative, such as modernizing our datacenters and managing equipment to optimize its energy efficiency.

Our teams, committed to Responsible Digital practices

  • The GreenLab

A GreenLab program designed around three phases: I understand, I measure, and I act. This journey allows our teams not only to develop their skills but also to actively contribute to our company’s transformation toward more responsible and sustainable practices.

  • The Digital Collage

This workshop brings teams together to identify and draw connections between game cards, building a comprehensive “Collage.” It raises awareness and trains our teams on the environmental and societal challenges of digital technology while helping to identify actions to implement.

  • Climate School & MOOC

A catalog of digital training courses is available to all employees wishing to understand Responsible Digital practices and their challenges, and to benefit from training on the subject.

Sustainable IT also means regulatory compliance.

  1. ISO 14001 & ISO 50001 Certification processes have been implemented in accordance with ISO standards. In collaboration with ALBIANT-IT, we are committed to optimizing energy efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint of our datacenters. We also anticipate the certification of our facilities while compliance with the European Code of Conduct for Data Centres is maintained. To date, our datacenters, Albiréo and Antarès, are certified ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 (environmental management and energy performance).
